  • Stem Cell Internships in Laboratory-based Learning (SCILL)

    Earn a Master’s degree in Biology with coursework in stem cell biology. Students participate in cutting edge research as well as advocate awareness to societal aspects of regenerative medicine.

Admissions

The SJSU Stem Cell Internships in Laboratory-based Learning (SCILL) Program seek students with the motivation, aptitude to pursue a career in regenerative medicine, stem cell research and advancing stem cell therapies. Students can apply to SJSU SCILL Program online via “CSU Mentor” during the Spring semester preceding the academic year in which they wish to matriculate in the program.

Curriculum

The goal of SJSU SCILL Program is to generate professionals who are proficient in stem cell biology at the graduate level and well versed in development of stem cell therapies. A significant new aspect of the program will focus on nuances of patients care through direct patient contact, and community education through outreach activities.

How to apply

Applications to SCILL may be submitted anytime before October 1st prior to the Spring  semester. Applications will be accepted until all spots available are filled. Decisions for the new SCILL cohort will be made by October 30.

ABOUT

The San José State University Consortium for Stem Cell Internships in Laboratory-based Learning (SCILL) Program provides coursework towards a Master's degree in the Department of Biological Sciences (Master of Arts or Master of Biotechnology) at San Jose State University and a 12-month, full-time internship in stem cell research in one of several host institutions.

OUR FOUNDING

Bridges CIRM 1.0 funded the SJSU SCILL Consortium in 2009 with $1.73m and was renewed with additional funding ($1.82m in 2012 and $0.6m in 2014) with the mission to generate a professional workforce that will enter stem cell research.
